FUN & LEISURE on the beach and around

Bulgaria is best known for its budget holiday resorts on the Black Sea. Here you can enjoy great health and leisure activities at a fraction of the cost of most other tourist destinations.

The Black Sea Resorts on the Bulgarian Coast are a great choice for holiday, entertainment, treatment, sport and why not, new friendships.

What to do in Varna?

The Sea Garden is the oldest and perhaps largest park in town containing an open-air theatre (venue of the International Ballet Competition, opera performances and concerts), an aquarium (opened 1912), a dolphinarium (opened 1984), the Nicolaus Copernicus Observatory and Planetarium , the Museum of Natural History, a terrarium, a zoo, an alpineum, a children's amusement park, and other attractions. The National Revival Alley is decorated with bronze monuments to prominent Bulgarians, and the Cosmonauts' Alley contains trees planted by Yuri Gagarin and other Soviet cosmonauts in the 1960s. The Garden is a national monument of landscape architecture.

Are you logging for a good piece of music? Varna's Opera House is what you should be looking for. The repertoire is rich and diversified both in genre and style covering the major share of the opera heritage from the 18th and 19th c. and a number of the 20th c. masterpieces.

Outside the city are the Euxinograd palace, park and winery, the University of Sofia Botanical Garden (Ecopark Varna), the Pobiti Kamani rock phenomenon, and the medieval cave monastery, Aladzha.

What to do while at Golden Sands?

Golden Sands is a modern holiday complex with more than 80 hotels (many open year-round), numerous villas, apartment buildings, casinos, restaurants, clubs, spa centres, attractions, shopping centres, and sports facilities, including yacht marinas, equestrian base and the Aquapolis water park.

Hot mineral water springs and lush woodlands cascading from the Frangen Plateau, forming the Golden Sands Nature Park, turn the town into one of the most popular tourist spots in Eastern Europe.

At Golden Sands you can also get involved in a number of cultural activities, be them beauty contests, beer festivals or a retro cars parade.

And about nights? Roulettes, black jack, slot machines will wake up the gambling spirit in you when you least expected it.

Do you rather feel like dancing? Modern nightclubs along the beach are just waiting for you.

Romance at Balchik

The idyllic city of Balchik is located on the northern Black Sea coast.
The Balchik Palace - once residence of the Queen Maria of Romania - and the adjacent botanical garden is a must see for any tourist visiting the area.

The golf courses and the yacht marina provide excellent opportunities for practicing sports.

Near Balchik you will find Tuzlata - the biggest healing salt bathing place in the country. North of Balchik are the Shabla and Durankulak lakes.
