Resorts, cities, attractions, towns and villages on the Coast

Balchik:
is a Black Sea coastal town in the Southern Dobruja area of northeastern Bulgaria. The town sprawls scenically along hilly terraces descending from the Dobruja plateau to the sea.

Albena: is a popular Black Sea resort in northeastern Bulgaria, situated 12 km from Balchik and 30 km from Varna. Albena is served by the international airport of Varna. Albena is one of the purposefully built resorts on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and has a uniform and unique architectural style. Many of the hotels are situated on the beach itself, exposed to maximum sunlight and providing direct access to the beach and sea.

Kranevo: A nice little village situated in a sheltered bay, Kranevo is 25km north of the city of Varna. It lies just beyond the northern end of Golden Sands and at the southern part of a long beach, which extends towards the resort of Albena to the north. The vast beach, clean sea, gently sloping sea bottom and curative mineral water have propelled the swift growth of the village into a touristic destination.

Golden Sands: is a resort town on the northern Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, adjacent to a national park of the same name in the municipality of Varna.

Located 17 km north of downtown Varna, it is virtually connected to the city by a continuous swath of resorts and villa communities. It is a popular tourist destination, drawing many visitors attracted by the favourable climate, scenic landscape, and reasonable prices. Golden Sands is served by the Varna International Airport and several regular bus lines of the Varna public transit system.

Resort development started in 1957 and in about two decades, the place was transformed into a modern holiday complex with more than 80 hotels (many open year-round), numerous villas, apartment buildings, casinos, restaurants, clubs, spa centres, attractions, shopping centres, and sports facilities, including yacht marinas, equestrian base and the Aquapolis water park.

The area is labelled to have the purest quartz sand on the coast and abound in old trees, landscaped parks, and pedestrian zones. Hot mineral water springs and lush woodlands cascading from the Frangen Plateau, forming the Golden Sands Nature Park, turn the town into one of the most popular tourist spots in Eastern Europe.

Saints Constantine and Helena is a resort town on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast within a landscaped park 10 km north of downtown Varna, 2 km east of its Vinitsa quarter, and 7 km south of Golden Sands. Bulgaria's oldest Black Sea resort was also known in the past as Druzhba (Дружба) and Varna Resort (Курорт Варна). It is served by the Varna International Airport and regular bus lines of the Varna public transit system.

The fine sandy beaches, punctured by rocky promontories, hot mineral springs, modern hotels, sports and health facilities, including spa centres and yacht marinas, and reasonable prices attract a broad international clientele.

VARNA: Varna is the largest city on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. Commonly referred to as the marine capital (or summer capital) of Bulgaria, Varna is a major tourist destination, university centre, seaport, and headquarters of the Bulgarian Navy and merchant marine.

The Sea Garden is the oldest and perhaps largest park in town containing an open-air theatre, an aquarium, a dolphinarium, the Nicolaus Copernicus Observatory and Planetarium, the Museum of Natural History, a terrarium, a zoo, an alpineum, a children's amusement park, and other attractions.

The waterfront promenade is lined by a string of beach clubs offering a vibrant scene of rock, hip-hop, Bulgarian and American-style pop, techno, and chalga.

The city beaches, also known as sea baths, are dotted with hot sulphuric mineral water sources (used for spas, swimming pools and public showers) and punctured by small sheltered marinas.

Burgas is the second-largest city on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. The Burgas Airport is serving the resorts of the southern Bulgarian coast. Surrounded by the coastal Burgas Lakes and located at the westernmost point of the Black Sea, the large Burgas Bay, Burgas has the largest and most important Bulgarian port.
